Meet the Founder
Sarah Zavatchin, RN, BSN, CLC
Registered Nurse & Certified Lactation Counselor
Sarah Zavatchin brings over 20 years of nursing experience across women’s health, pediatrics, rheumatology, internal medicine, chronic illness, hospice, and family care. With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and certification as a Lactation Counselor, her work centers on providing clinically grounded, compassionate, and faith-informed support to mothers, children, and families.
As a foster and adoptive mother of six and a wife of more than 20 years, Sarah understands firsthand the joys, complexities, trauma, and unexpected challenges that shape family life. This lived experience strengthens her work in Adoption & Home Support, attachment-aware family care, and trauma-sensitive support strategies.
Her practice is rooted in a biblical worldview and strengthened through ongoing biblical counseling training, including ACBC certification studies and graduate education. She integrates Scripture-centered encouragement with practical, evidence-informed care — believing that true family wellness honors both clinical wisdom and biblical truth.
Sarah founded Black River Nurse Consulting / Heart & Home Adoption Support to provide steady, Christ-centered nursing and family wellness support for families navigating complex seasons of life. Services include nurse consults, lactation support, adoption and foster-family support, and weight- and wellness-accountability support.
From first breath to final rest, she walks alongside families with clarity, integrity, and compassion.
