Who I am

About

Biblical Counselor in Phase 3 of ACBC | Registered Nurse

I’m Sarah Zavatchin, RN, BSN, CLC—a Biblical Counselor with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) and a Registered Nurse.

I am committed to counseling that is grounded in the sufficiency of Scripture. God’s Word provides everything needed for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3), and true change comes through the transformation of the heart as individuals grow in the knowledge of Christ and walk in obedience to Him.

As part of my ACBC Phase 3 training, I offer free biblical counseling, coming alongside individuals and families in discipleship—helping them understand life through God’s Word, respond in faith, and grow in Christlikeness.

I remain actively involved in my local church, Crossroads Community Church, where I continue to grow in discipleship and service.

My Approach

Biblical counseling focuses on the heart—addressing thoughts, desires, and actions in light of Scripture.

  • Scripture is the authority and foundation

  • Counseling is discipleship-oriented

  • The goal is growth in Christlikeness

  • Prayer and Scripture guide every session

Additional Background

My nursing experience includes women’s health, lactation support, pediatrics, adoption and foster care, complex medical needs, and end-of-life care.

While clinical care serves the body, biblical counseling addresses the deepest needs of the heart.

Care and Setting

Through Black River Nurse Consulting and Black River Ranch, I provide settings where relationships can grow, and biblical truth can be shared in everyday life.

These environments support, but do not replace, the central role of Scripture in counseling.

My Aim

To faithfully come alongside others in seasons of difficulty and growth—
pointing consistently to Christ and the hope found in His Word.

Mission Statement

At Black River Nurse Consulting, my mission is to provide Scripture-centered biblical counseling that faithfully brings God’s Word to bear on the challenges of life.

Grounded in the sufficiency of Scripture, I come alongside women, teens, children, and families in seasons of suffering, transition, and growth—helping them understand life through God’s Word and respond in faith, repentance, and obedience to Christ.

While nursing experience supports the care of the body, my primary aim is to address the heart—offering biblical counsel that leads to clarity, hope, and growth in Christlikeness.
