Who I am

About

Biblical Counselor | Registered Nurse

I'm Sarah Zavatchin, RN, BSN, CLC, a Biblical Counselor with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) and a Registered Nurse.

My desire is to come alongside women and families with the hope of the gospel through Scripture-centered, Christ-exalting counseling. I believe God's Word is sufficient for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3) and is the final authority for understanding the problems of life and the lasting hope found in Jesus Christ.

Biblical Counseling is a ministry of discipleship that seeks to help people grow in their relationship with Christ by addressing the heart through the truth of God's Word. Together, we seek to understand life's struggles biblically, respond with faith and repentance, and pursue progressive sanctification through the work of the Holy Spirit.

I remain actively involved at Crossroads Community Church, where I continue to grow through the faithful preaching of God's Word, discipleship, and service within the local church.

My Biblical Counseling Approach

  • Scripture is the sufficient and final authority for life and counseling.

  • Counseling is a ministry of discipleship that points people to Christ.

  • Lasting change begins in the heart and is accomplished through the gospel.

  • The goal is progressive sanctification—growing in Christlikeness through the power of the Holy Spirit.

  • Every session is guided by prayer, careful application of Scripture, and loving accountability.

Nursing Background

In addition to Biblical Counseling, I have more than 20 years of nursing experience serving women, children, and families. My clinical background includes women's health, lactation support, pediatrics, adoption and foster care, chronic and complex medical conditions, hospice, and end-of-life care.

While nursing addresses physical health, Biblical Counseling focuses on the spiritual condition of the heart and the hope found in Christ.

Black River Nurse Consulting & Black River Ranch

Through Black River Nurse Consulting and Black River Ranch, I provide welcoming environments where relationships are built, hospitality is practiced, and opportunities for biblical encouragement naturally occur. These settings complement—but never replace—the central ministry of God's Word in Biblical Counseling.

My Aim

My aim is to faithfully speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), helping women know Christ more deeply, trust Him more fully, and walk in joyful obedience for the glory of God. Whether you are facing suffering, fear, anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, or simply desire to grow spiritually, my prayer is to come alongside you with biblical hope that points consistently to Jesus Christ.

Mission Statement

At Black River Nurse Consulting, my mission is to provide Scripture-centered Biblical Counseling that faithfully brings God’s Word to bear on the challenges of life.

Grounded in the sufficiency and authority of Scripture, I come alongside women, teens, children, and families during seasons of suffering, change, and spiritual growth. Through the hope of the gospel, I seek to help individuals understand life's circumstances biblically, respond with faith and repentance, and grow in joyful obedience to Christ.

While my nursing background equips me to care for physical needs, my primary calling is to minister to the heart through God's Word—offering compassionate, Christ-centered counsel that points people to lasting hope in Jesus Christ and encourages progressive growth in Christlikeness for the glory of God.
